Dr. Ben Park is the chief executive officer of American Health Network, part of Optum (AHN) and vice president of Optum.

Dr. Park joined together with a group of physicians in 1994 to create AHN. Dr. Park’s expertise is his ability to utilize information systems technology to better meet the needs of the customers of health care delivery and manage the costs. He is well known nationally for his accomplishments in defining a model that allows physicians to manage the entire continuum of health care delivery and the associated costs.

Under his leadership, AHN has expanded to more than 300 clinicians in more than 70 medical offices in Indiana and Ohio. In late 2019, AHN was acquired by Optum, adding AHN to a network of numerous care delivery organizations providing individualized quality, affordable care and superior experiences to millions of patients nationwide.

In 1984, Dr. Park founded Advanced Medical Management Systems, a computerized system for physicians’ offices that included medical records, billing and appointment scheduling. Dr. Park’s other experiences include serving as chief of the medical staff at Witham Hospital, Lebanon, IN, developing computerized systems to manage hospital-based HMOs and health plans, authoring a number of articles on automated medical practice systems, serving on the ASTM committee for medical information interchange and speaking at national forums on the use of information systems technology in medicine.

Dr. Park obtained his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine, after which he completed his training at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. In addition to leading AHN, Dr. Park continues to practice family medicine – caring for people of all ages, at all stages of life – in his Lebanon, Indiana practice.
